For these three portraits we also need to use three different medias, i am going to use markers for my front view, pencils for side view, and watercolors for informal view. my most favorite media out of these three is drawing markers because it is very easy to master and the colors are very vibrant. the hardest one would be using pencils because i am a left handed so when i draw using pencils it is very easy to get smudged and the shadings needs to be very smooth and intense. to get this intensity you need to be very patient to apply layers one by one. watercolors are sometimes easy to apply but sometimes it can be very hard especially if you are using a thin paper. it is very easy to get torn if the paper is not thick enough.
however because my major is fashion studies, i also need to master how to draw faces and human features thus i feel that this assignment is very helpful for me to further my studies. our teacher also gave us a very easy and nice tips to draw these portraits based on a picture.
some techniques and skills that i learnt from 2D class can also be applied into making these portraits for example before i color my portrait with markers i need to outline it first and shade it using drawing pen. therefore pointillism or dots techniques that i learnt in 2D can be used to create the shadings and shadows.
