Other Group's Repackaging :)

This time, the blog is related to the previous blog about the repackaging product with flaws. so here's a list of pictures of what other group did to improve their products with flaws :)

Recreating Packaging :)

Today on September 29th, our creative thinking class did a very creative activity :). we are recreating the packaging of some products that we found flaws in their packaging. this is related to the blog post i did before about packaging flaws. we were asked to buy a product with flaws that cost less than S$5. then at the end of the previous class we exchange our product with other group and this week tasks is to  think of the 10 packaging flaws we can find in the product.

after we listed down 10 flaws, we need to recreate a nice packaging that could improve and cover up the 10 flaws we found in the packaging. We made the recreated packaging to be very colorful, unique, and attractive.

In the real packaging, the color used was a plain pastel purple which is not very attractive and not so vibrant. Next the name of the product is not really appropriate because it is called 'it's the duck's nuts'. and also the picture of the product itself is not so clear and its very small so when people bought it, they can't really know how does the real thing looks like otherwise it might be a vast advertising. the logo of the duck does not look very attractive and it is only in plain white color. the shape of the packaging is very tight so it is quite hard to take the product outside. And last but not least, the expiry date is in sticker so if it were to fall off, people would not be able to see the expiry date.

So to prevent and remove these flaws we try to create a packaging that could cover up these flaws. And the result of it was very satisfying. the shape of the repackaging is unique and interesting and from the top of the packaging there is a clear hole covered with transparent plastic so that people can see how does the product looks like before purchasing it. next is we replace the 'it's the duck's nuts' with 'quack's nuts' and we also replace the duck logo with a better and attractive shape accompanied with colorful colors. the packaging is decorated with colorful background like rainbow colors. and last, our product offers the resealable packaging so that if people does not consume it until its empty, they can still keep the rest.

overall, we did a very fun activity and we were asked to give a deep thought about overcoming these packaging flaws. we did not erase the flaws completely but one thing for sure is that we improve the packaging quality :) adios!

Final 3D - Juxtaposition :)

This week i am going to start to create my last and final 3D work regarding Juxtaposition. juxtaposition is created when two totally different materials are combined together to create an artwork and in our case is to create a sculpture.

I have come up with many ideas to create this juxtaposition sculpture, and at last i finally decided to do a combination of various materials with a luxurious and fancy theme. the color are mostly dominated with white and silver sparkles glitters to create an extravagance aura.

the materials that are present in the sculpture is plastic pearls, feathers, clay, wood, and plastic glasslike vase with some decorative white balls inside. i have begun to arrange each materials to compliment each other and the first attempt turns out well.

the pearls and the vase really compliment each other to create a very luxurious artwork. i hope it will turn out better at last when i need to show it to the 3d teacher :)

other than having the luxury theme in mind, i would like my artwork to be able to convey and express the message of equality. as i mentioned before i will use clay to make two hand that holds the fancy vase however the two hands would not be in the same color. one of it would be in pale white and the other one would be in dark shade. this is to express the equality between races. the main message is:

"despite being born in different races, everybody, everyone, every individuals have the same rights to have something they hold dear, something they cherish, something precious to them, and something they want to protect. and this something might just be in common although the two individuals are not from the same race. hence this sculpture is my way to express my understandings and concepts of racial equality." so i wanted to convey these messages through my last 3D sculpture :) but its not fully done yet so wait for it kay :) Adiosssssss...!

Packaging Flaws! :)

In this world we can easily find imperfections everywhere, thus flaws can be spotted everywhere. Even if everything have been observed carefully there must be a flaw in everything because nothing is perfect. however there must surely be a way to cover and minimize the chance of spotting these flaws.

If someone does not carefully observe something they will definitely think that this thing or product is flawless. but if you look deeper into it you can spot the flaws. in our creative thinking class, our task is to go to supermarket and find some snack packagings with flaws and errors, in some way it is an easy task but at the same time it's not. we were given 45 minutes to observe in the supermarket and find these packagings.

BEEF PULLS NOODLES

After we observe many packagings, we need to choose a product that is less than 5 dollars that has obvious flaws. we need to buy it and bring it back to be observed deeper. we need to list down at least 10 flaws that you can find in the packaging. So our group chose to buy a beef pulled noodle or can also be called ramen :) the writings and the logos are mostly in chinese thus i do not really know what's written in the packaging because i don't understand chinese writings :( luckily my two other fellow teammates are able to translate and tell me about the meaning of each writings. we find that the chinese name of the product are not very relevant with the english version because it seems like the name of the product is directly translated just like google translator.

However... other than that it is very hard to find other flaws because the packaging looks perfect but we try as hard as possible to look for other flaws because there must definitely be a flaw in every packaging. and finally we come up with another obvious flaw which is the picture of the beef noodle bowl that's placed in the down middle part of the packaging. we feel that the picture is like a false advertisement because in the picture it is mainly about the beef inside a bowl. the noodle is somehow not very visible although the product is about beef pulled noodle. so we suggested to change the picture to emphasize more in the noodle itself rather than the beef.

next is the packaging shape flaw, the packaging is very tight so the noodle inside can break easily and once it breaks people will not buy it because they know that the noodle is broken due to the fact that the packaging is transparent. so we suggested to make a roomier packaging that is suitable for the noodles :) and there are many other more flaws that we found but the ones i mentioned are the ones that i found very obvious :) ADIOS...!
