Today on September 29th, our creative thinking class did a very creative activity :). we are recreating the packaging of some products that we found flaws in their packaging. this is related to the blog post i did before about packaging flaws. we were asked to buy a product with flaws that cost less than S$5. then at the end of the previous class we exchange our product with other group and this week tasks is to think of the 10 packaging flaws we can find in the product.
after we listed down 10 flaws, we need to recreate a nice packaging that could improve and cover up the 10 flaws we found in the packaging. We made the recreated packaging to be very colorful, unique, and attractive.
In the real packaging, the color used was a plain pastel purple which is not very attractive and not so vibrant. Next the name of the product is not really appropriate because it is called 'it's the duck's nuts'. and also the picture of the product itself is not so clear and its very small so when people bought it, they can't really know how does the real thing looks like otherwise it might be a vast advertising. the logo of the duck does not look very attractive and it is only in plain white color. the shape of the packaging is very tight so it is quite hard to take the product outside. And last but not least, the expiry date is in sticker so if it were to fall off, people would not be able to see the expiry date.
So to prevent and remove these flaws we try to create a packaging that could cover up these flaws. And the result of it was very satisfying. the shape of the repackaging is unique and interesting and from the top of the packaging there is a clear hole covered with transparent plastic so that people can see how does the product looks like before purchasing it. next is we replace the 'it's the duck's nuts' with 'quack's nuts' and we also replace the duck logo with a better and attractive shape accompanied with colorful colors. the packaging is decorated with colorful background like rainbow colors. and last, our product offers the resealable packaging so that if people does not consume it until its empty, they can still keep the rest.
overall, we did a very fun activity and we were asked to give a deep thought about overcoming these packaging flaws. we did not erase the flaws completely but one thing for sure is that we improve the packaging quality :) adios!
